Xavier Riley doesnt feel pressured by success of the film

Xavier Riley was interviewed by MTV during The Sorcerer’s Apprentice premiere where he was showing support for fellow Aussie actor Teresa Palmer.

In the interview, Xavier mentioned that he was not pressured with the success of the filmand does not lament that Riley is only part of Eclipse.

“I kind of don’t really think about that sort of stuff,” he admitted to MTV News at the New York premiere of “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.” “I was just kind of focused on doing a good job, but we’re here tonight for ‘The Sorcerer’s Apprentice’ and also a good friend of mine, [actress] Teresa Palmer, who’s a fellow Adelaiden from Australia, so I thought I’d come out and show my support. I heard it’s a really cool film.”

“It’s something I’m not too concerned with,” he explained. “You know, this is supposed to be a really great film.”

“I don’t know if it’s relief — I’d love to be a part of these stories,” he said. “They’re so cool. Again it’s wonderful to be a part of something with such magnitude. The longer you can be a part of it, the better. But you’re right: Riley does have this vicious encounter with a wolf; unless he survives that we probably [won't see him].”

The BBC interviews the Eclipse cast

The BBC has posted their interview with Ashley Greene and Xavier Samuel during the press junket for Eclipse in the UK.  Both actors talked about how different Eclipse is, with the action and drama being raised by director David Slade.

BBC talks to the Eclipse stars - Watch more Videos at Vodpod.

“Sometimes you get so comfortable with something and you don’t see little nuances here and there. It was fun to work with David and add a new layer onto this layer that I’d already created.”

Co-stars Nikki Reed and Kellan Lutz also talked about making the film and the training they have to undergo.

Co-star Lutz agrees: “He didn’t want to change what we did, but he wanted to get our insight on the script and where we saw it going and then he added his own ideas. It was a great collaboration. It opens doors to new levels.”

Kellan Lutz, who plays vampire Emmett Cullen, says: “It’s going to grab a lot more guys. As a guy who loves actions movies versus the chick flicks, I loved what they did with the trailer.”

Nikki Reed (vampire Rosalie) recalls the six weeks of mixed martial arts training she went through for the fight scenes. “We really trained hard. It’s amazing how that ends up as 30 seconds of screen time.

Meanwhile director David Slade talked about taking on the project, talking with the cast and casting a goth legend as the role of the cold one.

“Hardy Candy was something we talked a lot about. That seemed to be the one driving force,” says Slade, of his early discussions about taking on Eclipse. “It didn’t hurt that I’d done videos for Muse, who happen to be the author’s favourite band.”

“It is the darkest of the books,” says Slade. “The characters are getting older, the blacks and whites are getting shades of greys. We shot it in 50 days. I was so immersed in trying to get this film made I never really thought about that stuff.”

“I thought, who is the first vampire ever? It’s Peter Murphy!” said David Slade, the director of Eclipse. “I just called him up and he said: ‘Sure that’ll be great.’ I just can’t think of a better first ever vampire than Peter Murphy – he’s the original undead, undead, undead,” said Slade, quoting a lyric from the song.

Xavier Samuel: A star is born

He was dubbed as the new guy in the third Twilight film, Eclipse, but Xavier Samuel emerged as a star. He has clearly established himself as bad vamp Riley and for Xavier, Eclipse is just the beginning.

In an article by USA Today, they chart the rise of Xavier Samuel through Eclipse. Here is an excerpt:

When Australian actor Xavier Samuel shipped off an audition tape to Twilight producers, insta-fame seemed oceans away.

“It’s kind of strange because you send them off into oblivion and you don’t know if anyone watches them,” says Samuel, 26.

That was last year.

Fast-forward to the Eclipse premiere, where thousands of fans are not only screaming but are screaming for him. “It’s kind of 360 degrees of hysteria,” Samuel says just hours before the Los Angeles premiere of the third film installment of Stephenie Meyer‘s blockbuster series. “The sound (of Twilight’s fans) does really knock you off your feet.”

Samuel steals not only the first five minutes of one of most anticipated movies of the summer, but much of its finale. He plays newborn vampire Riley Biers, who, alongside vengeful vamp Victoria, leads a bloodthirsty army of young vampires with one goal: killing human Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) and those who protect her.

Hailing from Adelaide, he now joins Hollywood’s short list of hot young Aussie men in the spotlight, including brothers Chris Hemsworth (Star Trek) and Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song), and Sam Worthington (Avatar).

There was only one problem en route to the Eclipse set.

“I was going through the book going, where’s Riley?” says Samuel, whose character gets a major upgrade in the screenplay version of Eclipse. But director David Slade slipped him an early top-secret copy of Meyer’s recent novella, The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, in which Riley and Victoria’s relationship is more deeply explained.

Joining the ranks of Robert Pattinson, Stewart and Taylor Lautner, “I ought to feel ostracized, but everyone was wonderfully down to earth,” says Samuel, who found battling a CGI werewolf in the wilds of Canada more challenging than making friends. “You’re just working with a piece of fur on the end of a stick just kind of poking you,” he says with a laugh.

The son of parents who teach history and English, the dry-humored Samuel, whose younger brother Benedict is finishing up acting school and whose sister Bridget is an opera stage manager, cut his teeth playing Hamlet in college, later appearing in a smattering of movies on the film festival circuit, including Newcastle, September and The Loved Ones.
