Edi Gathegi:New Moon, Stephenie Meyer and many more

The Twilight Examiner had an exclusive interview with Edi Gathegi where he talked about New Moon, Stephenie Meyer, coming back and many more. Here is an excerpt of his interview:

Are you excited for everyone to finally see New Moon?

Edi: I am! I’m very, very excited. I think it’s gonna be pretty awesome. I talked to Taylor the other day, and he’s actualy seeing the final cut right now as we speak. (Oct. 30th)

Have you seen that yet?

Edi: I saw it a month and a half ago, and now it’s the final cut. I didn’t see the final, final cut.

I spoke to Billy Burke a few days ago, and he said that the film came out beautifully.

Edi: Billy Burke is one of my favorite actors from that movie.

Billy also let me in on the secret of him and Rob having an affair going on. It has been amazing they’ve been able to keep it a secret.

Edi: [laughs] I knew about it! Yeah, I saw Rob trying to hypnotize Billy with his eyes. [laughs]

Had you ever heard of the series before auditioning?

Edi: No, I hadn’t. Before my audition, I didn’t know that the books existed. As a matter of fact, I was so thrown off by the material that I didn’t even really want to go to my audition. It was supernatural, so I really didn’t have any interest in that. But when I got the part and read the books, I was so glad that I went into my audition and did a good job. Because it’s more than just a supernatural story. It’s a romance, and it’s beautifully done, too.

Have you become a devoted fan of the books after getting the part?

Edi: I have, I have.

Talking with the vampires

Belief.net were able to have a quick interview with Edi Cathegi and Jamie Campbell Bower when they visited Utah last week. Here is an excerpt of their interview:

NM: To begin with, this film has a different director, Chris Weitz of “American Pie,” “About a Boy,” and “The Golden Compass.” How will we see his influence on the story?

EG: Every director has his own unique style. Even in big franchise film series they’ll often switch off. Chris knows how to direct big stories and he has worked with CGI and special effects. In terms of color scheme and tones, “Twilight” was very blue and “New Moon” is very brown, with the introduction of the wolves. It does look gorgeous!

NM: How do you develop your walk and other movements for these supremely graceful creatures, the Volturi?

EG: Stephanie Meyer said the Volturi glide. So it’s not a clumpy foot stomp. It has to be liquid looking

JCB: My character is very still. For the one small bit of walking I did from my perch to my next perch, I was like a snake almost.

EG: We went to a moving like a cat workshop with exercises and cat movement. The idea is more like a tiger, lion, or panther. This is a new mythology of vampires, no fangs, no crosses. The Volturi have no blood in their bodies. They never have to move. There is a lot of stillness. We are not trying to pass ourselves off as human like the Cullens are.

Kellan Lutz stops in Boston for New Moon Tour; Edi and Jamie sings Miley Cyrus in Atlanta

Kellan Lutz stopped by in Boston yesterday to the delight of the Twilight fans. This is another stop of the New Moon Tour. Kellan was due to appear with Ashley but the actress couldnt make it so Kellan brought a picture of the actress perched on a stick. Kellan gamely signed autographs and pose for pictures with fans before engaging in a Q&A session with the fans. To view more pictures of Kellan, click on the link above.

Jamie and Edi on the other hand proved to be a musical duo as they sang Miley Cyrus’ song “Party in the USA” at a New Moon event in Atlanta. Like Kellan, they signed and posed for pictures and get their fair share of Twimoms. Edi and Jamie also get to poke fun at Robert Pattinson calling him ugly. New Moon Tour: Checking in with Jamie, Edi, Alex and Kiowa

The New Moon tour is still in full swing and we are catching up with Jamie, Edi, Alex and Kiowa as they make a stop in Minnesota and Miami for meet the excited Twilight fans.

First stop, Edi and Jamie were in the Mall of America in Minnesota where they met excited fans, signed autographs and pose for pictures. The event also features performances by Anya Marina.

During the Q and A session, the actors revealed that even though they play evil characters, they certainly have sentimental sides, too. Jamie’s favorite animal? “A whale. Any form of whale is good,” he said. “They’re very gentle and slow creatures.” (Edi, on the other hand, prefers “very aggressive and fast creatures,” like panthers. Go figure, right?)

During story time with Edi, Edi recounted to Jamie the story of his “Kelly” voice, which he would use multiple times over the next 20 or so minutes (“Team Edward! Omigod!”). Jamie didn’t offer any hint of his own “Kelly” voice, but joked that his first audition tape was for a very important female role: “I have played Bella Swan. That’s my original audition tape and it will never see the light of day.” (Edi, very seriously, said he would choose to play James if he could be another character, “just because he’s all the way bad, and it’s fun and liberating to be bad.”)

Both Edi and Jamie agreed that they’d choose to be vampires over werewolves (of course!), but Jamie’s reasoning was oddly practical. “You’d lose your clothes when you transformed every time [into a werewolf],” Jamie said. “You’d have to buy a new wardrobe every day.”

Twilight stars on the New Moon trail

Whilst Robert, Kristen and Taylor are off to Europe to promote the film, some of the film’s cast members are touring the US, delighting fans with their presence and dishing out info about the film.

Two days ago, Edi Gathegi and Jamie Campbell Bower were at the Fair Oaks Mall in Virginia, delighting fans with their charm whilst signing autographs and posing for pictures. Here are a few of them courtesy of Just Jared Jr.

Edi Gathegi, Christian Serratos and the wolf pack also kick off the New Moon tour as the made an appearance at the Nordstrom store last November 5.

“We’re here today — half the wolf pack, a sexy vampire and a regular human,” laughed Gathegi, who plays the (mostly) evil Laurent in the saga. “We’re here to meet 125 fans, take pictures with them and send them home happy.”

New Moon cast at Nordstrom

The wolf pack – Chaske, Alex, Bronson & Kiowa – along with Edi Gathegi and Christian Serratos visited the Nordstrom Store in Canoga Park, California to kick on the New Moon Tour in the different Nordstrom branches nationwide. The cast posed for pictures and signed autographs for the waiting fans.
