Kristen and Dakota: The kiss wasnt that big of a deal

One of the most “controversial” – or look-forward-to – scenes in The Runaways would probably be the kiss between Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning. But in an interview with MTV News, both actress affirmed that it wasnt that big of a deal and that they only did it because it was called for in the movie.

“I don’t think it was ever a big deal to me,” explained Dakota, who plays Runaways lead singer Cherie Currie, adding that having Cherie and Joan Jett (Kristen) kiss in the film “was just a thing, another day” for the characters.

Kristen agreed with her pal insisting that the kiss was just a part of the script and not done for shock value. “It was never a big deal to me either … especially the way it was written into the story and the way it wasn’t, ‘And they finally get together,’ ” she explained.

The actresses elaborated further on this in an interview with E!Online.

“It’s just something we did,” Stewart said at last night’s Sundance Film Festival premiere of the biopic about Joan Jett‘s 1970s all-girl rock band, The Runaways. ”In this story, it’s so not like a romantic thing. It’s just something that they just do.”

“We had so many other really crazy things that we were intimidated by, like, we had a performance that day,” Stewart said. “So when that came up on the schedule we were like, ‘Whoa!’ But then, ‘Alright, whatever.’ It was sort of just like another thing.”

They also talked a bit about Breaking Dawn. Kristen mentioned that even she doesn’t know if the book will be split into two movies or not.
