New Moon sets new all-time midnight record

New Moon is phenomenal.

Summit Entertainment announced today that New Moon set a new midnight opening record, debuting $26.27M in 12:01 AM screenings from 3.514 theaters. It smashed the old record set by Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince last summer with an opening of $ 22.2M. Summit’s re-release of Twilight also earned $1.3M in 2, 057 theaters. Fandango also reported that New Moon is trending to seel more than 10 tickets per second on the site throughout the course of the day.
