According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, New Moon conquered the box-office in Australia, Italy, France and Spain, braking box-office records in the process.
New Moon posted the highest midnight screening in Australia, surpassing the record set by Star Wars Episode III. The film garnered $1.6 M USD on 466 screens.
In France, New Moon launched straight to No.1 with 488,000 admissions for its first day from 751 screens, resulting to a $4.36 M on day one alone – this is 4 times with what Twilight did last year.
In Italy and Spain, New Moon became the third highest Wednesday opening ever coming behind HP 6 & HP5 (in Italy) and HP5 & HP 6 (in Spain). New Moon earned $ 2.7 M in Italy from 625 screens (with some screens still to report) while it earned $2.2 M in Spain replacing the final Lord of the Rings film in third place.
