New Moon opened huge internationally

The figure reports are still rough but one thing is for sure, New Moon opened huge internationally.

According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, New Moon conquered the box-office in Australia, Italy, France and Spain, braking box-office records in the process.

New Moon posted the highest midnight screening in Australia, surpassing the record set by Star Wars Episode III. The film garnered $1.6 M USD on 466 screens.

In France, New Moon launched straight to No.1 with 488,000 admissions for its first day from 751 screens, resulting to a $4.36 M on day one alone – this is 4 times with what Twilight did last year.

In Italy and Spain, New Moon became the third highest Wednesday opening ever coming behind HP 6 & HP5 (in Italy) and HP5 & HP 6 (in Spain). New Moon earned $ 2.7 M in Italy from 625 screens (with some screens still to report) while it earned $2.2 M in Spain replacing the final Lord of the Rings film in third place.

We will update this report once we have the concrete numbers of the film.
