He is one of Britain’s most versatile actors, having played characters from real life to fantasy. Now with the release of New Moon, Michael Sheen is going to introduce himself to a whole new audience – one that is close to his heart. In a short interview with the Daily Mail, Michael admits that he accepted the role of Aro mainly due to his 10-year old daughter, who is a fan of the books.
‘That made it more exciting. The Twilight series has a lot of teenage girl fans. But I think that’s mainly for Robert (Pattinson), not me!’
He also revealed his inspiration for his character in New Moon.
There’s that sense of pure menace in the Child Catcher, which is why he’s had such a huge impact.
‘I’ve even got the same long black hair in the film!’
Mr. Sheen has just wrapped The Special Relationship, where he is going to step into the shoes of former UK prime minister Tony Blair. But according to MTV, he will be playing a role of a barman in the upcoming reboot of Tron entitled Tron Legacy.
“My stuff was mainly in this amazing set that they built because I’m a nightclub host, so they built the nightclub and… it was one of those great scenes where there’s just loads going on,” he said. Sheen went on to describe some of the effects he’s seen so far as being better than the “proof of concept” short that we saw coming out of San Diego Comic-Con this past summer.
“[Kosinski] now says that he doesn’t like people seeing [the SDCC short] because it’s moved on so much from that,” Sheen said. “And that [short] looks awesome.” It does indeed, Michael.
