The Vatican slams the Twilight books claiming them to be a “moral void more dangerous than any deviant message”.
The film, above, contained “an explosive mix” of good-looking protagonists dabbling in the supernatural, said Monsignor Franco Perazzolo of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Culture. The film’s occult imagery represented a “moral void more dangerous than any deviant message”, he said.
The Vatican also slammed other film franchise such as The Da Vinco Code and Harry Poter.

Despite being slammed by the critics, the New Moon cast thinks that director Chris Weitz has done a very good job.
“I loved it,” Kellan Lutz told MTV News of “New Moon.” “It was a really great movie. And I think it balances the love story and action very well. Taylor’s a movie star. Chris Weitz did a great job.”
Ashley Greene also couldn’t help but reiterate how fantastic it was to work with Weitz on the second film in the franchise. “I love it,” she gushed. “I think it’s so great. I think Chris Weitz just does a fantastic job. You know, it’s a completely different tone and a completely different story, and I think he did a really good job of giving us a transition into the next one.”
Director Chris Weitz on the other hand, feels he has done justice to the books and the fans.
“I feel really good about the final product,” he said. “I feel it was as close to the final product as I could make it, which was an honest version of the book and something that a fan could appreciate. So it’s not made for any particular demographic, except for the reader of the book who wants to see it visualized.”
On other news, Taylor Lautner feels good about Jacob’s expanded role in the series.
“It was really exciting for me that Jacob has the opportunity to develop his relationship with Bella in this movie,” he said. “Really it’s setting up this entire series, which is this love triangle. So it was great to have them develop their relationship.” That also meant more bonding time on the New Moon set with Kristen Stewart. “Kristen and I have a very similar relationship to Jacob and Bella. We’re very open and honest with each other, we can tell each other things.”

Nikki Reed participated in Vanity Fair’s Twlight Watch where she talked about the success of the first film, getting recognized in the street, the fans and many more. Here is an excerpt:
What in your life has changed the most since Twilight came out?
The biggest change is that people recognize me now. Before Twilight, occasionally I would get the “Hey are you that girl from that movie?” but no one knew my first and last name. The fans of the saga are amazing, and it’s very flattering.
How did filming New Moon differ from Twilight?
We were all friends when we headed up to Vancouver to shoot New Moon. There was an obvious closeness that became apparent towards the end of Twilight.
Did anything change in the way that you interact as a cast from one film to the other?
Yeah, we used to have a lot of group dinners.
Do you or the Cullen actors have a ritual or anything you do to prepare or rev you up before shooting a scene?
We don’t really have a “getting into character ritual,” unless you count constant joking around and chaos.

Examiner was able to interview Academy Award nominated musical scorer Alexandre Desplat, who’s music is currently being heard in the Twilight Saga: New Moon. Here is an excerpt of their interview:
Do they affect you as a creative energy and the projects you take on?
The main thing there is to be inspired by film. That’s what drives me; that’s what I like; that’s my life. The rest is just an accident. You get an award or you don’t get an award, who cares? But if you make a great film, it’s fantastic, and it’s the best thing you could do if you find a great relationship with a director. Of course, the great thing about awards is that your name becomes more exposed. But I think the body of work that’s behind you is most important. Because if I did bad work and provided bad music for movies, I’m not sure I would get another call.
One of the truly remarkable traits of your soundtracks is that when listening to it, the audience participant easily loses himself/herself within the atmosphere you created. And I think that is due to your seemingly innate ability to find the “voice” of the movie. What is your process for becoming so connected to your projects? Do you receive a copy of the movie that you watch over and over until the pattern emerges?
Yes, that’s exactly it. I have copies of each movie. I write movie soundtracks because I want to write movie soundtracks. It is no accident or a business that I wanted to have. I could be selling soap if I wanted a business. I do it because I am fascinated by the process of creating music for films. I never wanted to be a concert composer, either. When I watch a movie, I have a strange intuitive chemistry that drives me along. So it is great to actually have the movie to watch again and again. Sometimes I find the right path right away, but even if I do, I choose not to get excited about it and explore other pathways. I circle around the movie for a long time, so I can be sure that what I am throwing at the picture definitely belongs with it.
It’s funny; sometimes when I am offered a movie to score, I receive a copy with my music from previous scores on the temp track. And the directors say, “Oh, it works so well!” But I don’t see it at all; it definitely doesn’t work at all. It’s the wrong pitch, the wrong color. It’s a new body of work I have to invent; it’s a new challenge. It’s not just the melodies; it’s the sound, the texture…it’s like a new fabric I have to design.
Did you listen to Carter Burwell’s score for the first Twilight film when you accepted New Moon?
No, not only did I not listen to it, but I didn’t even watch the movie. I didn’t want to be influenced by it. Carter is a great composer and I loved his scores for the Coen Brothers. And I knew that if I went there, I would be in danger, because I knew that I would enjoy it and then be influenced by it. So I just passed and avoided it altogether.
